Heading a bit farther south along the East Shore you will find Lake Tahoe’s most popular beach and state park- Sand Harbor. The picturesque landscape of sandy shores, rocky coves and the large mountain backdrop makes Sand Harbor a world renowned destination. This area is popular for kayaking, paddleboarding, scuba diving, snorkeling, boating, picnicking, bike riding, fishing and much more. Facilities include a boat launch, group pavilion, day use picnic area with barbecue grills and picnic tables. Sand Harbor hosts wedding services as well as the annual Shakespeare Festival.There are several hiking trails in and around Sand Harbor. Inside the park you will find the Sand Point Nature Trail which is a one-third-mile boardwalk trail with informative signs and great lake views. This trail is great for all ages and is handicap-accessible. Another good hiking trail is Memorial Point Trail. It is a half-mile trail that takes you to Memorial Point where you will find sandy beaches, turquoise water and rocky coves. The popular east shore trail is another great path to get to Sand Harbor.It is a paved, 3-mile trail that leads from Incline Village to Sand Harbor where you can see some of Tahoe’s most stunning views. This park is very popular as it is the easiest east shore beach to access and the parking lot fills up quickly. Especially on the weekends, it's best to get there early. If you don’t want to worry about trying to find parking you can always rent a boat with a captain and enjoy Sand Harbor from your private boat!
