Another popular beach on Tahoe’s east shore is Whale Beach. Whale Beach gets its name from a large whale head looking rock that appears to be jumping out from the lakes edge. This beach is easiest to access from the water as the hike down is a fairly difficult, 2 mile steep walk down and parking at the Secret Harbor Parking area is limited. This sandy beach is about 100 yards long and is a great area for soaking up the sun, paddleboarding, snorkeling, boating, fishing, etc. Whale Beach is located on National Forest Land and there are no toilets or trash facilities. Dogs are allowed at this beach
